Wolpy Entry by GoldenFoxDA Wolpy Entry by GoldenFoxDA
Ugh! I’m not pleased with the results! The coloring, line, and detail. After all the speculating of :iconskailla:, it just looks terrible! I never am good with cartooning and I wish I was… I’ll be sure to tweak more of it when I get the chance.

Anyway…this is my second attempt at another fan art submission. This time, it’s a contest entry from alias, Skailla (:iconskailla:). Coincidentally enough, my first fan art ([link]) was ALSO a contest entry, except I failed at that attempt, but still finished it and submitted it anyway several months later. This time, it is up just in time before the closing of the contest.

Anyway, this picture is based on a story by the user herself, titled Over the Mountains and Far Away. It takes place in the culture of two separate wolf packs, Gangvar, and Logan. The main protagonist is Wolpy, who’s the yellow wolf in the picture, all petrified, and he’s the Omega of Gangvar(also known to be the bottom of the pack that must take orders from everyone while keeping an eye on the young). What goes on in the picture is mostly the dark side of his character trait. He’s most of the time, goofy, comedic, and unintentionally a trouble maker. So as you may have guessed it, his character carries a runt story. Add to that, something… pretty dark.

The idea behind this picture is a brief character study. Wolpy’s scared of the thoughts about the past enemies he’s made, including his own father. After reading various profiles from Skailla, I was completely shocked at where the story was going. So to answer Skailla on what the theme is, it’s under “Enemies”.

On the upper left is Urtan, the Alpha and father. His backstory is closely related to Wolpy. While he was married to one wolf, he hung around with another, named Raven, who’s Wolpy’s real mother. All alone as a Cub, Urtan finds Wolpy, and takes him back to his pack, and in revenge with Raven, Wolpy’s ranked an Omega to this day.

Sensenite, upper center, is a Beta. He mostly pushes Wolpy around, and hates him beyond belief. It’s very vague to explain, but he gets angry with Wolpy all the time.

The Red wolf on the upper right is Racher. She’s on the Logan pack. Her job was to guard a dead Caribou Wolpy and another wolf stole from after a severe incident Wolpy tried undoing. Through an unlucky mishap, a log bridge across a waterfall collapsed beneath Racher, thus getting angry at Wolpy and the other wolf (named Treavor, BTW). At the end of the chapter, Wolpy feels regretful about her, thus she lands in the picture.

I overall love Wolpy. He’s charming, and hysterical, but he’s also serious at the same time. A couple of things he has are some things I can somewhat relate to. He’s Omega having to take orders from everyone while I’m the youngest member in my family and have to take care of nearly everyone’s chores. Particularly, I have a quote from him in my signature, that’s how much I admired this character. Though thinking back at it now, his character’s darker than I expected.

now this is what I call amazing!:wow:

I've never, in my whole life, met someone who could describe and understand Wolpy's personality so well. I was simply amazed by the way you talked about him!:omg:
And you did even understand something that no one does: this darker point of view over Wolpy's story.
I must say no theme would fit this pic so well as "Enemies" does, and mostly nothing would fit Wolpy as well as this. Your analyze was the best I've ever read so far. Marvelous work, seriously.
And the artwork, naturally amazing! ;)
I love how you managed to reflect every character's impression over Wolpy in their expressions.
The background was also something worth appreciating! it was very well done, and increases a lot the emotion in this picture!

and thank you again for the quote in your signature. You have no idea how honored I feel to know that you like Wolpy that much! It truly makes my day

thank you so much for entering my contest with such fabulous piece!
I wish you ALL the luck!:thanks:

Ah, Skailla. How you make my day by the praise you give me. Yes, I went for the theme of enemies, considering a lot of what Wolpy has was much darker than I thought. I always love Wolpy for who he is; simply funny, and charismatic, but the problems he has drew more attention to me since some things he has are quite relatable, such as that line I used in my sig. I also never thought someone would give a large amount of feedback. I really appreciate that because despite the message in the picture, the illustration to me is not the way I wanted it to come out. I am not good at cartooning at all, and then again, I didn't do too often.

And I once again say your welcome on having Wolpy's line in my sig, emphasizing his frustration comedically. I still say that line around with my GF, :mytokyokitty:, and she at times says I should autition for Wolpy's voice. I wouldn't that far though because he almost looks like a kid and I'm 22.

Thanks for the feedback. Again, you've made my day. Good luck with the rest of the entires to comment on. There's a lot of them. lol

Nice! You're better with backgrounds than I am. ^^

Funny enough, I did that background in like 5 minutes. It was easy because the mountains were all shadowed to here I can just make them black. most night skies are actually dark blue in cartoons. and the grass... well that was rushed <_<.
